Mossie J. Richmond - Afak Haydar Scholarship
for International Students
The Richmond-Haydar Scholarship was established in 1998 by family and friends of the late Dr. Mossie J. Richmond, Jr., former Vice President for Student Affairs, and the late Dr. Afak Haydar, former director of International Programs. Drs. Richmond and Haydar were instrumental in the internationalization of the ASU-Jonesboro campus during the 1980’s and 1990’s.
In recognition of international student academic achievement and leadership, both inside and outside the classroom, the scholarship is typically given to one undergraduate and one graduate student annually.
Scholarship eligibility criteria are:
International students with J, F, or H visa status currently enrolled at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro.
Undergraduate students must have completed at least 30 semester hours and have a GPA of 3.0.
Graduate students must have completed at least 9 semester hours and have a GPA of 3.5.
Applicants may not have studied at any U.S. institution here or abroad except ASU.
Preference is given to students who have not previously received the scholarship.
