Future Delta Leaders Service Scholarship

Arkansas State University is excited to make available twenty $2,000 scholarships for the 2005-2006 school year to Future Delta Leaders. High school seniors from the 42 Arkansas Delta counties are encouraged to complete an application and submit it by Feb. 15 with the necessary documents for consideration.

The following criteria will be used by the Scholarship Committee in selecting the 20 recipients:

• Must be a spring 2005 graduate from one of the accredited Arkansas Delta high schools
• One of the following: ACT score of 20-23 or SAT score of 950 to 1109
• High school cumulative grade point average of a minimum of 3.000 on a 4.000 scale
• Proven leadership in grades 9-12 including leadership in school clubs, community involvement and volunteerism
• Two recommendation letters referencing the student's past leadership activities and potential for future leadership in service to the Delta region
• One-paragraph statement from the student indicating why s/he is a potential leader for the Delta region

How To Apply:

• Submit an application by Feb. 15 with the following:
  1. Two recommendation letters sent from high school teachers, counselors, principal or community leader
  2. High school official six or seven-semester transcript
  3. ACT/SAT scores verified by counselor on the scholarship application
• Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Award Amount:

• $1,000 per semester up to a total of eight semesters
• Must begin using the scholarship the fall semester after high school graduation
• This scholarship does not combine with any of the other ASU institutional scholarships

Renewal:

• Renewable up to eight total semesters provided the recipient successfully completes a minimum of 12 hours each semester and maintains a 2.500 cumulative GPA.
• Recipient must perform a 45 hour per semester obligation in specified student service areas.
• All coursework must be completed on the ASU-Jonesboro campus.

Arkansas, Ashley, Baxter, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Clay, Cleveland, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Dallas, Desha, Drew, Fulton, Grant, Greene, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lee, Lincoln, Lonoke, Marion, Mississippi, Monroe, Ouachita, Phillips, Poinsett, Prairie, Pulaski, Randolph, Searcy, Sharp, Stone, St. Francis, Union, Van Buren, White, Woodruff.
